Flight Training

The objective of the DMFC Training Programme (see Documentation Page) is for new members to achieve the skills necessary to fly a fixed wing model aircraft safely and without the need for supervision.

An increasing number of clubs now stipulate that their members either have BMFA 'A' or SAA 'Bronze' certificates before being permitted to fly solo at their clubs. DMFC has limited access to certified Examiners able to issue these national certificates so in order to minimise the risk to the club of any accidents at the Airfield due to pilot error the club has developed a voluntary programme. (see Documentation Page).

Where necessary the club's training equipment may be used with a 'Buddy' transmitter system to provide introduction flights prior to the member obtaining their own equipment.

Club's Training Models

The club currently has 2 models both electric for ease of support and both are set-up for using 'Buddy' Transmitters.  One is a foam DeltaRay used for initial introductory flights having S.A.F.E technology on-board.

The other is a Bushwhacker traditionally built from bala using a plan.   These models are only used for the inital few flights before the member with advice from the club is encouraged to purchases their own.
